JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY – Michelle Miller was the recipient of the Teacher of the Month Award for December presented by Allied Milk Producers and WTAJ. She is a first grade teacher at Richland Elementary School. It was an emotional moment for Mrs. Miller when she received the award, and her first grade class was also able to learn all about Dairy Farming throughout the afternoon thanks to a presentation from the Allied Milk Producers. They even got to make cow puppets!
Mrs. Miller was nominated by one of her student’s family. They nominated her because she was able to get to know their child and help him get excited to learn and read.
Mrs. Miller takes a different approach to teaching, she gets to know her students not only as learners, but as people. This helps her change her teaching style for each individual student, so that they can achieve their very best. Mrs. Miller has been teaching at Richland Elementary School for almost twenty years, and when you enter her classroom you can tell and how much she cares about all of her students.
Mrs. Miller said she was honored by winning this award, but it’s not only her, but also the rest of the staff, and the parents, that helps create an environment for success at Richland Elementary School.
Congratulations Mrs. Miller!
