CARLISLE, Pa. (WTAJ) —  In celebration of Earth Week, GIANT Food Stores have announced that they completed the first phase of its solar project at the Carlisle, Pa. support office.

GIANT has installed an array of solar panels on the roof which will feed solar power directly into the building’s electrical system.

The company plans to continue with these solar phases in an attempt to get away from fossil fuels and help with their carbon footprint.

They have already begun working on ground-mounted panels that will span nearly five acres on the corporate campus and they also plan to incorporate “pollinator habitats” to support bees and other pollinators.
